Hello World

Unbelievable. In the days and times of microwave meals, mini computers and cars that park themselves there are parts of this world going through unbelievable atrocities. Essence put out an alarming article in their issue with the very fly Mrs. Beyonce Carter on the front There are places in Africa that still believe in arranged marriages from birth. If there is a brother or sister reading this blog from any of these places please do not take offense but I feel I would be remiss in my duties if I didn't speak on it.

Women as young as nine years of age are being forced into marriage by their families. This is done to ensure their daughter will be taken care of. The girls in the village usually are wed to men three times their age and are mothers by the time they are 15 years old. While some women are shaking their heads and fists at the thought I am not shunning their rituals however, the disastrous effects that some of these young women are dealing with is close to ungodly. Prenatal care for us goes well in to our post pardom appt at our OB. These young ladies don't know what prenatal care is or means. They are being forced to bear children for days at a time and in turn majority of them are getting what is called flatula.

Flatula comes from babies sitting on the bladder of their mothers in turn flattening them flat as a coin. This then cause these young women to leak urine until they have surgery to stop it. Surgery in a village where the hospital is hours away. Why not a C-section? Because in these villages the word cesarean is either foreign or a synonym for death. Whats worse is sometimes the babies don't even live. The maternal mortality rate is more than double for females in the age group of 10-16 than a woman 20 yrs old or above. The women are then considered to be a disgrace and are kicked out of their husbands homes.

It is utterly gut wrenching to me to know that these girls are being forced in to marriage and child birth and then swiftly abandoned when real life effects come from their cause. In most of these villages the girls aren't even allowed to be educated which is a HUGE crime all in itself. I don't have much money so the best I can do for these young women is pray and do this blog. Hello World!!! Can you hear that??? It's the sound of people crying out for change!!!
